Clearing case study – Mahfuzur Rahman
3rd July 2019
Mahfuzur Rahman, Second year BSC Therapeutic Radiography student at London Southbank University and Queens Hospital tells us he went through clearing to get his place and he highly recommends allied health professions, particularly Therapeutic radiography as a career route.
It feels good to wake up every day and know your sole aim is to serve those in ill health and to help them recover as best and as quickly as possible. It is a truly rewarding experience and it gives you a glimpse of how you can use your skills and knowledge to benefit those who require it. Working for the NHS is particularly fulfilling, not only because of the patients you help but because of the level of progression that is available and other financial benefits on offer.
I enjoy patient interaction above everything else and accompanying patients on their cancer treatment journey from the first day right until their last. As a student we are in a unique position, although we treat patients, we also have other duties to speak to patients and spend time with them to create a bond. I have found this always helps the patient during their time in treatment and recovery.
Thanks for reading! Please share if you think someone you know might be interested in a career as an allied health professional.
